Choosing an agency in Vienna

Alternatives to large agencies in Vienna.

Hardly anyone asks this question out of curiosity. It comes up when a quote lands on the table that is bigger than the problem, or when a junior has been answering for months although three seniors sat in the pitch. There are four serious models, and one of them is us. We sort them here in a way that also covers the case where the large agency stays.

Models

Four models, sorted honestly.

01

The large full-service agency

Many disciplines under one roof, experience with large budgets, robust processes. Strong when you need media, production and several markets at once. Expensive when you really only need two of them, because account management, project management, specialist departments and buying each cost money and time.

02

The small specialised team

Few people, but the ones who sat in the meeting are the ones who do the work. Strong on speed and on depth in one field. Weak as soon as you want six channels served at once and someone reachable around the clock.

03

The freelancer network

Lowest hourly rate, maximum flexibility. The catch is accountability: when something falls between the designer and the developer, nobody picks it up. You become the project manager yourself.

04

In-house

Full control and, long term, the cheapest option if the workload justifies it. Hiring takes months, and a single person rarely covers strategy and production at the same time.

The difference

What you gain with a small team.

Access

You talk to the founders. agentsie was founded in Vienna in 2026 by Kristina Carnogursky, Melanie Holton and Evgeniia Korkeshko, and who owns which discipline is published on the about page. Direct access to the team is part of every package, not an escalation level.

Speed

In the starter package we commit to a turnaround of up to 72 hours, in the scaling package up to 48 hours. We answer an inquiry within 24 hours, with no agency deck in between.

Exit

The retainer starts at €2,800 per month and is published with its full scope on the packages page. Monthly packages can be paused or cancelled at any time. This is where framework contracts and small teams differ most clearly.

Proof

Small does not mean thinking small.

For the IPEC Group we run an ongoing marketing budget of around €200,000 per year, with more than ten specialists on the project. At the Milka Schokohaus we were the supplier instead, working for the Viennese studio Vienna Paint. Both directions work. And where the large agency wins, we say so: classic media buying with real volume, corporate framework contracts with supplier audits, and on-call support around the clock.

FAQ

Common questions about switching agencies.

Is a small agency automatically cheaper?

No, the hourly rate can even be higher. It gets cheaper through fewer layers and fewer rounds of coordination, not through cheaper work. One note on the market: in our own comparison of AI agencies in Vienna, three of the five listed agencies only quote prices on request, as of July 2026. With us, price, turnaround and cancellation terms are published up front on the packages page so you can do the maths yourself.

How does a small team handle larger projects?

Through a fixed network of specialists plus systems that take on the repetitive work. On the IPEC project more than ten specialists are involved, steered by a small permanent core team. What we build ends up as a system that belongs to you, and monthly packages can be paused or cancelled at any time.

How do I tell in a meeting whether an alternative holds up?

Four questions are enough. Who exactly works on my project, with first and last names? What does the smallest sensible entry cost, and what happens if I stop after that? Will you show me a system you run yourselves? And: where does your work bring me nothing? The last one is the hardest and sorts fastest. One note on references: a wall of logos proves that a logo was bought, not that anything worked. Ask for a number, then ask what it refers to.

Can we start alongside our existing agency?

Yes, and that is often the calmest route: one clearly scoped sub-project, one clear measurement point, then you decide. Projects usually start two to three weeks after the intro call.
